Four days of insights, partnerships, policy discussions, and innovation stories from across Africa.
Across four days, conversations at the SGCI All Partners Forum 2026 revolved around a shared ambition: strengthening Africa’s capacity to generate, fund, and use research to address development challenges. Participants reflected on progress made, debated emerging priorities, and explored how science granting councils can help shape more effective and resilient research and innovation systems.
The Forum provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, challenge assumptions, celebrate achievements, and identify practical solutions to common challenges. Discussions ranged from sustainable research funding and research infrastructure to capacity strengthening, inclusive science systems, evidence-informed policymaking, and the power of collaboration. Along the way, delegates shared lessons from their own countries, showcased innovative approaches, and explored opportunities for stronger partnerships and collective action.
The Forum also marked several important milestones, including the launch of SGCI’s new visual identity, the establishment of the SGCI Policy Hub, high-level political engagement, and the adoption of the Windhoek Declaration. Together, these developments underscored the growing influence of science granting councils in strengthening Africa’s research and innovation landscape.
This collection brings together all four daily newsletter editions, capturing the key conversations, insights, milestones, and reflections from a week dedicated to advancing African-led research and innovation.
