Master’s students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers with a focus on sustainability and quantitative methods are invited to apply for the IIASA Summer School for Systems Modeling, taking place in Laxenburg, Austria, from 29 June – 10 July 2026.
The two-week in-person programme offers intensive, hands-on training in mathematical and computational modelling for sustainability research. The summer school is designed to strengthen participants’ analytical capabilities while exposing them to tools and approaches used in real-world, global sustainability research.
What participants will gain
Enhanced systems modelling skills
Practical experience managing uncertainty and exploring solution spaces
Work with tools and methods used in real-world, global sustainability research
Applicants are encouraged to have basic familiarity with R, Python, or similar programming languages.
Application deadline
26 February 2026 (midnight CET)
Researchers seeking to advance their modelling expertise and engage with an international research community are strongly encouraged to apply.
