Effective research communication is central to ensuring that science informs policy, reaches communities, and inspires the next generation of scientists.
Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI), members are increasingly experimenting with creative, people-centred ways of making research more visible, accessible, and relevant beyond academic circles and as a core function of national science systems.

One such example is the FONSTI Mag, the flagship science, technology, and innovation magazine by Côte d’Ivoire’s Fonds pour la Science, la Technologie et l’Innovation (FONSTI).
The magazine is an investment in science storytelling as a bridge between researchers, policymakers, and the public.
This edition takes readers deep into the opportunities and challenges shaping Africa’s AI landscape and offers a strategic perspective on Côte d’Ivoire in the age of AI, exploring national visions, emerging challenges, and future pathways for responsible and inclusive adoption.
FONSTI Mag shows how research communication can serve as a strategic infrastructure to help close the gap between knowledge production and use, as well as support evidence-informed policymaking, strengthen public trust in science, elevate African research globally, and inspire young people to see themselves as part of the STI ecosystem.
SGCI continues to champion innovative approaches to research communication. FONSTI Mag stands as a compelling example of how science-granting councils can bring research closer to people and ensure that knowledge leads to action.
Please check out the stories and let us know what you think. We would love to hear from you!
