The policy brief emanates from a report titled ‘Politics and Policy Developments in Knowledge Production for Development’. The report recommends that the research community disseminates their research products through other non-academic platforms to benefit the broader community. It recommends that the research community communicates their findings to policymakers through policy briefs, and on the part of politicians and policymakers, they need to be aware of and champion the value basic research for possible long-term impact. The study funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York showcases key findings using qualitative methodology including review and analysis of existing literature vis-à-vis primary data gathered through interviews conducted with different stakeholders in four (4) SGCs selected for this study.
