The SGCI has provided the opportunity and platform for SGCI participating councils to engage in strategic partnerships, as a collective, that advance knowledge, research, human capital development and experience-sharing. Key amongst these have been the O.R. Tambo Africa Research Chairs Initiative (ORTARChI), the Covid-19 Africa Rapid Grant Fund (CARGF) and the Global Research Council (GRC).
