Elle endommageait nos filets et nous ne pouvions plus p\u00eacher dans les zones habituelles \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-this-invasive-plant-doesn-t-just-damage-the-lake-ecosystem-it-threatens-the-livelihoods-of-communities-who-depend-on-these-waters-for-food-income-and-clean-water\">\u00ab Cette plante envahissante ne se contente pas d\u2019endommager l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me du lac, elle menace les moyens de subsistance des communaut\u00e9s qui d\u00e9pendent de ces eaux pour leur alimentation, leurs revenus et l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019eau potable. \u00bb<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-yezbie-kassa-assistant-professor-of-fishery-and-aquatic-science-university-of-gondar\">Yezbie Kassa, professeure adjointe en sciences halieutiques et aquatiques \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Gondar<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>D\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9s de reconqu\u00e9rir leurs eaux, les p\u00eacheurs du village de Shehagomngie, dans le district de Gondar Zuriya, ont tent\u00e9 d\u2019enlever la jacinthe \u00e0 la main. Mais c\u2019\u00e9tait un travail \u00e9reintant qui n\u2019a donn\u00e9 aucun r\u00e9sultat. <\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab M\u00eame apr\u00e8s l\u2019avoir enlev\u00e9e, elle repoussait rapidement \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Wabi. \u00ab Les d\u00e9chets s\u2019accumulaient autour de nous, occupant toutes les terres avoisinantes. \u00bb <\/p>\n\n<p>Lorsque des chercheurs ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 un projet de biogaz \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 locale, Wabi a \u00e9t\u00e9 le premier volontaire.<\/p>\n\n<p>Cette approche innovante a transform\u00e9 la plante envahissante en sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie domestique, comme du combustible de cuisson, tout en d\u00e9barrassant simultan\u00e9ment l\u2019eau des mauvaises herbes.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab L\u2019installation du syst\u00e8me de biogaz a fait une grande diff\u00e9rence \u00bb, a affirm\u00e9 Wabi.<\/p>\n\n<p>Sa famille utilise d\u00e9sormais le gaz pour la cuisine et l\u2019\u00e9clairage, r\u00e9duisant ainsi sa d\u00e9pendance au bois de chauffage.<\/p>\n\n<p>Wabi utilise \u00e9galement le biodigestat r\u00e9siduel comme engrais dans sa petite exploitation, avec des r\u00e9sultats prometteurs. Son ma\u00efs et ses l\u00e9gumes ont d\u00e9sormais un meilleur rendement que lors des saisons pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, lorsqu\u2019il d\u00e9pendait des engrais chimiques. <\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab Depuis que j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 appliquer le digestat, mes cultures poussent mieux et semblent plus saines \u00bb, a-t-il expliqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab Je n\u2019ai plus besoin d\u2019acheter des engrais co\u00fbteux sur le march\u00e9, ce qui m\u2019aide aussi \u00e0 \u00e9conomiser de l\u2019argent. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rapid-invasion\"><strong>Invasion rapide<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Yezbie Kassa, chercheuse principale du projet et professeure adjointe en sciences halieutiques et aquatiques \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Gondar, s\u2019est rendue au lac Tana dans le cadre de ses recherches doctorales.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00c0 cette \u00e9poque, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 t\u00e9moin de changements drastiques de l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me alors que la jacinthe d\u2019eau se propageait dangereusement sur le lac.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab Cette plante envahissante ne se contente pas d\u2019endommager l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me du lac, elle menace les moyens de subsistance des communaut\u00e9s qui d\u00e9pendent de ces eaux pour leur alimentation, leurs revenus et l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019eau potable \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 des ann\u00e9es de nettoyage communautaire et d\u2019efforts d\u2019\u00e9limination par le gouvernement, la plante a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 se propager.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab La plante se propageait rapidement et rempla\u00e7ait les esp\u00e8ces indig\u00e8nes \u00bb, se souvient Kassa. \u00ab M\u00eame l\u00e0 o\u00f9 elle \u00e9tait enlev\u00e9e, les d\u00e9chets s\u2019accumulaient dans les villages, posant de nouveaux probl\u00e8mes environnementaux et sanitaires. \u00bb <\/p>\n\n<p>\u00c0 moins que la plante ne soit utilis\u00e9e d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre, les efforts d\u2019\u00e9radication ne seraient pas viables \u00e0 long terme.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab J\u2019ai vu un besoin urgent de transformer cette plante envahissante en quelque chose d\u2019utile \u00bb, a-t-elle ajout\u00e9. \u00ab C\u2019est ainsi que l\u2019id\u00e9e du biogaz est n\u00e9e \u2014 par n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 et par opportunit\u00e9. \u00bb <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-green-energy\"><strong>\u00c9nergie verte<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Kassa a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir remarqu\u00e9 que la jacinthe d\u2019eau en d\u00e9composition lib\u00e9rait une substance huileuse, ce qui a inspir\u00e9 l\u2019id\u00e9e de l\u2019utiliser comme source d\u2019\u00e9nergie.<\/p>\n\n<p>Elle a vu un potentiel dans la conversion des d\u00e9chets en biogaz tout en utilisant le sous-produit restant comme engrais, offrant ainsi un double avantage pour l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie et la productivit\u00e9 agricole.<\/p>\n\n<p>Selon Kassa, le processus est simple. Les d\u00e9chets de jacinthe d\u2019eau et les bouses d\u2019animaux sont collect\u00e9s et introduits dans des digesteurs de biogaz. <\/p>\n\n<p>Sur plusieurs semaines, la mati\u00e8re organique se d\u00e9compose pour produire du biogaz selon un processus appel\u00e9 digestion ana\u00e9robie. Le biogaz est principalement compos\u00e9 de m\u00e9thane et de dioxyde de carbone. <\/p>\n\n<p>Le r\u00e9sidu restant, appel\u00e9 biodigestat, devient un engrais naturel.<\/p>\n\n<p>Kassa a soulign\u00e9 que la jacinthe d\u2019eau produit un volume de biogaz plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que de nombreux autres mat\u00e9riaux en raison de sa teneur en mati\u00e8res volatiles. Elle produit \u00e9galement une concentration plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e de m\u00e9thane et moins de gaz nocifs, ce qui la rend plus saine et plus respectueuse de l\u2019environnement. <\/p>\n\n<p>Bien que le projet pilote n\u2019ait \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en \u0153uvre que dans cinq foyers, il a servi de preuve de concept et de source d\u2019apprentissage pour la communaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<p>Au d\u00e9but, de nombreux villageois \u00e9taient sceptiques, mais \u00ab une fois qu\u2019ils ont vu les premi\u00e8res lumi\u00e8res et senti le gaz de cuisson, cela a chang\u00e9 les mentalit\u00e9s et suscit\u00e9 l\u2019enthousiasme \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Kassa.<\/p>\n\n<p>Elle affirme que les femmes b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient particuli\u00e8rement de cette innovation, car elles n\u2019ont plus \u00e0 passer de longues heures \u00e0 ramasser du bois de chauffage ou \u00e0 cuisiner sur des fourneaux enfum\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-government-support\"><strong>Soutien gouvernemental<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Getachew Sime Feyissa, professeur agr\u00e9g\u00e9 d\u2019agro\u00e9cologie \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Hawassa, en \u00c9thiopie, affirme que la transformation de plantes envahissantes en biogaz, biofertilisants, artisanat ou aliments pour animaux est une approche de plus en plus populaire.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00ab Ces m\u00e9thodes offrent un double avantage.
