Avec pour objectif de contribuer \u00e0 l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la productivit\u00e9 du ni\u00e9b\u00e9 pour une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/agriculture\/\">agriculture<\/a> durable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon Amy Bodian, sp\u00e9cialiste de la gestion de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/environment\/biodiversity\/\">biodiversit\u00e9<\/a> du ni\u00e9b\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019ISRA et coordonnatrice de l\u2019\u00e9tude,\u00ab&nbsp;la rhizo-inoculation est une inoculation des rhizobiums, des bact\u00e9ries fixatrices d\u2019azote qui s&rsquo;associent au ni\u00e9b\u00e9 pour lui fournir l\u2019azote n\u00e9cessaire pour son d\u00e9veloppement&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A en croire la chercheure, ce travail a permis de montrer que la r\u00e9ussite de l\u2019inoculation varie en fonction de la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de ni\u00e9b\u00e9, de la souche de rhizobium et de l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/environment\/\">environnement<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Ce qui veut dire qu\u2019il est possible qu\u2019une souche de ces bact\u00e9ries soit efficace dans une zone et pas dans une autre. La finalit\u00e9 de cette recherche est d\u2019arriver \u00e0 faire des recommandations sur la souche qui permet d\u2019optimiser le rendement pour chaque zone agro\u00e9cologique&nbsp;\u00bb, explique-t-elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/?s=S%C3%A9n%C3%A9gal\">S\u00e9n\u00e9gal<\/a>, le ni\u00e9b\u00e9 est surtout cultiv\u00e9 dans les r\u00e9gions de Diourbel, Louga et Thi\u00e8s.Durant la campagne agricole 2022-2023, sa production s\u2019est \u00e9lev\u00e9e \u00e0 152 211 tonnes, selon le rapport de l\u2019Enqu\u00eate agricole annuelle (EAA) 2022-2023 de la Direction de l&rsquo;analyse, de la pr\u00e9vision et des statistiques agricoles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La production de cette l\u00e9gumineuse \u00e0 graines reste cependant confront\u00e9e \u00e0 de nombreux d\u00e9fis comme l\u2019infertilit\u00e9 des sols et la s\u00e9cheresse pouvant entra\u00eener une baisse de rendement et une mauvaise qualit\u00e9 des graines,soutient Amy Bodian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/agriculture\/farming\/\">culture<\/a> demeure particuli\u00e8rement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/governance\/vulnerability\/\">vuln\u00e9rable<\/a> aux attaques d&rsquo;insectes et \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence de plantes parasites. Cette sensibilit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessite une vigilance constante de la part des agriculteurs qui doivent mettre en place des strat\u00e9gies de protection adapt\u00e9es, ajoute Mouhamadou Moussa Diangar, sp\u00e9cialiste en s\u00e9lection et am\u00e9lioration vari\u00e9tale et chercheur \u00e0 l\u2019ISRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Il faut trouver des \u00e9l\u00e9ments \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer pour renforcer la r\u00e9silience des cultures. Et parmi ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments, nous pouvons citer la fertilisation, le suivi phytosanitaire&nbsp;, etc.&nbsp;\u00bb, conseille le sp\u00e9cialiste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon ce chercheur, pour que le producteur soit \u00e0 l\u2019aise, \u00ab&nbsp;il faut du mat\u00e9riel g\u00e9n\u00e9tique adapt\u00e9. C\u2019est \u00e7a qui va faire qu\u2019il va d\u00e9penser moins. Maintenant, s\u2019il y a des r\u00e9sistances, il faut mettre en \u0153uvre des strat\u00e9gies de r\u00e9silience sur la base des pratiques culturales&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00c9quilibre nutritionnel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le ni\u00e9b\u00e9 apporte une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/agriculture\/food-security\/\">s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire<\/a> \u00e0 des millions de personnes au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal et dans de nombreux pays d\u2019Afrique subsaharienne. Cette l\u00e9gumineuse joue \u00e9galement un r\u00f4le important dans l\u2019\u00e9quilibre nutritionnel des populations rurales gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des teneurs \u00e9lev\u00e9es en prot\u00e9ines et d\u2019autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments nutritifs, pr\u00e9cise Amy Bodian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Le ni\u00e9b\u00e9 peut arriver \u00e0 maturit\u00e9 avant deux mois et avant toutes les autres cultures et constitue ainsi un aliment de soudure important en milieu rural, surtout lorsque la nourriture se rar\u00e9fie\u2026 Les rendements de ni\u00e9b\u00e9 sont de 800 kg par hectare au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, alors que le potentiel peut aller jusqu\u2019\u00e0 trois tonnes \u00e0 l\u2019hectare&nbsp;\u00bb, dit-elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon Nafissatou B\u00e2 L\u00f4, conseill\u00e8re en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/health\/nutrition\/\">nutrition<\/a> au Comit\u00e9 national de d\u00e9veloppement de la nutrition au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scidev.net\/afrique-sub-saharienne\/governance\/policy\/\">politiques<\/a> de nutrition au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal accordent un int\u00e9r\u00eat aux c\u00e9r\u00e9ales qui ont une importance particuli\u00e8re en mati\u00e8re de teneur en micro-nutriments. \u00ab&nbsp;C&rsquo;est pour cette raison qu&rsquo;elles promeuvent l&rsquo;approche agriculture pour la nutrition&nbsp;\u00bb, dit-elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tude sur la fertilisation innovante par rhizo-inoculation pour l\u2019augmentation du rendement du ni\u00e9b\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9egr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019appui financier du Centre de recherche pour le d\u00e9veloppement international (CRDI) \u00e0 travers le minist\u00e8re s\u00e9n\u00e9galais de l\u2019Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur et de la recherche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour Tafsir Ababacar Ndoye, coordonnateur du Fonds d\u2019impulsion de la recherche au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, ce projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9 dans le cadre d\u2019un partenariat qui prend en compte les th\u00e9matiques en lien avec la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire. Il s\u2019agit en l\u2019occurrence de l\u2019Initiative des organismes subventionnaires de la recherche scientifique en Afrique (IOSRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus de deux ans apr\u00e8s son ex\u00e9cution, \u00ab&nbsp;nous sommes satisfaits de ce projet. Les objectifs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 atteints. C\u2019est un projet qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9 du d\u00e9but jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de mani\u00e8re exceptionnelle\u2026 Au-del\u00e0, le but vis\u00e9, dit-il, ce sont les m\u00e9moires qui sont soutenus.
