Item description

The Annual Regional Meeting is organised by the SGCI as a joint Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) event, bringing together the Initiative Management Team, the Councils and the Collaborating Technical Agencies to reflect on progress of the Initiative and jointly propose how to move forward in the second half of the year.  The Regional Meeting is also designed to support and learn from either regional or national initiatives. This year, the SGCI is collaborating with the Ethiopia's Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT). In this regard, the theme of the event : Bridging the Gap: STI Policy of Ethiopia, Experiences and Economic Impact will be a valuable learning and experience-sharing opportunity.

Alongside the ARM, the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and other CTAs have jointly organised a learning visit from 26th to 28th June to allow practical learning by the Councils from Ethiopia's robust approaches and experience in using STI Indicators to design and monitor research programs. The Councils M&E Officers will benefit a lot from this learning visit. This means that one delegate (the M&E officer) will stay after the 2 days of the ARM to participate in the learning visit.

The events of the week have been designed to target the very operational aspects of the Councils.

We request the Heads of Councils to nominate two participants from each SGC, one who should be the person responsible for M&E. ACTS will coordinate organisation of the events of the week. Please send the name of your nominee to Dr Aschalew Tigabu: at your earliest convenience.
