Strengthening the research management capacity of Africa’s science granting councils

Supporting councils to strengthen their capacities in research management in a number of key areas, such as: research and grant-making systems and procedures and
principles of scientific merit review. The objectives are:
  • To understand the current capacity and capacity development needs of the participating SGCs
  • To strengthen sustainable research management capacity of SGCs through professional development and training
  • To strengthen sustainable research management capacity of participating SGCs through ​​collaborative platforms
  • To support benchmarking of participating SGCs through an online benchmarking tool

ESSA and the REAL CENTRE launch first open access database of education research by African-based researchershttps://sgciafrica.org/en-za/news/Pages/ESSA-and-the-REAL-CENTRE-launch.aspxESSA and the REAL CENTRE launch first open access database of education research by African-based researchers<p>​Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA) and the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the University of Cambridge have created and launched the ‘African Education Research Database’ a curated collection of over 2,000 studies from 49 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.  This is the first open access database of education research by researchers based in sub-Saharan Africa.
